Sonographer Education Evenings @ Radius – Dynamic Ultrasound in Diagnosis

RADIUS Imaging hosted an education seminar featuring Stephen Bird, presenting to nearly 20 podiatrists from the Greater Geelong region.

Stephen is a general sonographer with more than 25 years of clinical experience and is a highly regarded educator in the field of sonography. He regularly presents at national and international conferences and is recognised within the Australasian ultrasound community for his extensive knowledge and expertise in musculoskeletal (MSK) ultrasound.

He holds both General and Vascular Diplomas of Medical Ultrasound (DMU), as well as a Master of Medical Sonography from the University of South Australia.

Expert Insight into Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

Stephen’s session focused on the role of dynamic ultrasound in diagnosis, with a particular emphasis on musculoskeletal applications relevant to podiatry. His deep clinical experience as a sonographer provided attendees with practical, real-world insights into how ultrasound imaging can enhance diagnostic accuracy and improve patient outcomes.

His expertise in MSK ultrasound allowed attendees to better understand how dynamic imaging techniques can be applied in everyday podiatric practice, particularly in assessing complex foot and ankle conditions.

Valuable Learning for Podiatrists in the Greater Geelong Region

The education seminar provided podiatrists with an opportunity to expand their clinical knowledge and strengthen their understanding of diagnostic ultrasound. Attendees gained valuable takeaways that can be directly applied to their clinical work, improving confidence in interpreting imaging findings and supporting better patient care.

Ongoing Commitment to Sonographer-Led Education

RADIUS Imaging is committed to continually updating the skills of both referring clinicians and internal staff. In addition to the education evening, Stephen Bird also spent two days working directly with RADIUS Imaging sonographers, helping to further refine their skills in musculoskeletal ultrasound.

This hands-on collaboration reflects RADIUS Imaging’s ongoing commitment to professional development, clinical excellence, and the advancement of sonographer expertise within the organisation.
