Education Weekend @ Radius – Clinical Ultrasound Seminar

In March 2019, Radius Imaging hosted a Clinical Ultrasound Seminar onsite at Waurn Ponds. The two day seminar was presented by Martin Necas, a clinical specialist sonographer, honorary fellow and life member of the Australian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) from Waikato Hospital, New Zealand.

Topics included: Vascular Ultrasound, Obstetric Doppler and Bowel Imaging Ultrasound as well as formulation of clinical impressions and reporting. Martin also included a “hot topic” that showcased a new direction in clinical ultrasound. The seminar was well attended by over 40 sonographers from imaging practices in Geelong, Colac and Ballarat.

Martin works as a clinical specialist sonographer in Hamilton, New Zealand. Martin completed training in general and vascular ultrasound in Seattle, USA in 1996 and subsequently attained a Master’s Degree in Sonography at the University of South Australia in 2007. Martin has practiced diagnostic ultrasound in USA, New Zealand and Australia in a wide variety of clinical settings ranging from private centers to tertiary teaching hospitals. Martin is an ultrasound enthusiast, keen clinical instructor, lecturer, author of several landmark scientific papers and a prolific conference speaker. He is an author of a range of journal articles as well as a book titled Artifacts in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound.
